PLS School of Sanctuary Pledge

Prendergast Ladywell School is proud to be part of the Lewisham Borough of Sanctuary and commits to actively working towards becoming a recognised School of Sanctuary. We share City of Sanctuary’s vision of welcome and inclusion for all refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum in the UK and believe this is embodied within our core values of community and resilience. We are seeking to join the national network of over 400 primary and secondary schools, nurseries and sixth forms all of which support the three key principles of good practice for welcome and inclusion, listed as follows: 

Learn –Prendergast Ladywell School will continue to educate students, staff and the wider community about what it means to seek sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration.  

Embed –Prendergast Ladywell School commits to strengthening its creation of a safe and inclusive culture of welcome that benefits everybody, including anyone in the community seeking sanctuary.  

Share –Prendergast Ladywell School will continue to share its values and activities with the local community and promote the voices and contributions of people seeking sanctuary where possible.
