Helen Ingham (Chair)

Co-opted Governor

Helen moved to South East London to train as a teacher and never left!  She has taught in schools in Lewisham and Southwark for over thirty years and have lived in Crofton Park for much of this time.  Helen’s most recent job has been as headteacher of Ivydale Primary School in Nunhead.  Alongside leading the school, she has also been responsible for the services delivered at Children and Family Centres across the Peckham, Peckham Rye and Nunhead locality.

Throughout her career Helen has gained extensive experience of the role governing boards play in school improvement as a headteacher and previously as a staff governor and an advisor.  In addition, she is a trustee of a local education charity providing Saturday enrichment classes for children in local primary schools.

In Helen’s words, ‘There is no better way for me to continue to play my part in improving the life chances and opportunities for children in South East London than by bringing my knowledge and experience to a new governorship.  I am excited to have this opportunity to help establish the first Prendergast Ladywell Local Governing Board.’
