Statement of Results - Academic Year 2023-24
Prendergast Ladywell School is delighted to announce another year of exceptional GCSE results. Students have achieved remarkable outcomes, setting the stage for their future academic pursuits.
A significant number of students surpassed expectations, with 60% of all grade 4 or above, and 43% attaining grades 5 or above. These strong performances reflect the dedication and hard work of both students and staff.
Particular commendation goes to individual students who excelled in their studies. Yu Yan, Amelie, He, and Asher achieved an impressive number of top grades, including multiple Grade 9s.
The school's commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment has undoubtedly contributed to these outstanding results. Prendergast Ladywell School is proud to have enabled its students to achieve their full potential and progress to the next stage of their education, including Prendergast Sixth Form.
Headteacher, Niall Hand, expressed his immense pride in the students' accomplishments: "I am thrilled to see our students achieve such excellent results. Their hard work and dedication, coupled with the support of our dedicated staff, have led to these outstanding outcomes. We look forward to celebrating their continued successes in the years to come."
Statement of Results - Academic Year 2020-21
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the GCSE, BTEC and Cambridge National results for our Year 11 students in the academic year 2020-2021 have been awarded using; Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs), and Qualification Level Teacher Assessed Grades (Q-TAGs) for BTEC courses.
It is important we all recognise the value of these grades awarded to our students this year. These grades represent teachers’ professional evaluation and judgement of each students’ knowledge and skills in each of their subjects. We value what our Year 11 students have achieved and the progress they have made at Prendergast Ladywell School.
Due to the way in which grades have been awarded, there will be no recording or reporting of performance measures by the Department of Education, this has been suspended for the 2020-2021 GCSE, BTEC and Cambridge National outcomes.
It is therefore not appropriate to celebrate these awards in the ways we have done in the past, reporting our Progress against the National Benchmark, or the % of grades at different thresholds.
We do, however, want to publicly recognise the exceptional results by some of our students:
Alessia Akabueze -4 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8, 1 Grade 7
Andrea Maqui Fajardo – 3 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8,1 Grade 7
Jo Jackson - 2 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8, 2 Grade 7s

Terry Adams- 2 Grade 8s, 1 Distinction, 3 Grade 7s
Martha Witham- 4 Grade 8s, 1 Grade 7
Lemario Bruce – 2 Grade 8s, 4 Grade 7’s
Statement of Results - Academic Year 2019-20
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the GCSE results for students in the academic year 2019-2020 have been awarded through a combination teacher’s assessment in a Centre Assessed Grade or CAG, and implementation of a national algorithm established by Ofqual. No teacher assessed grade was reduced by this algorithm, a small number of grades were increased.
It is important that we all recognise the value of these GCSE grades awarded to our students this year. These grades represent teachers’ honest and professional evaluation of each students’ work and their achievements in each of their subjects. We value what the students have achieved and the progress they have made at Prendergast Ladywell School.
We believe that had examinations gone ahead as planned that we would be able to report that our outcomes had improved for the sixth successive year. However, due to the way in which grades have been awarded, there will be no recording or reporting of performance measures by the Department of Education, this has been suspended for the 2019-2020 GCSE outcomes.
It is therefore not appropriate to celebrate these awards in the ways we have done in the past, reporting our Progress against the National Benchmark, or the % of grades at different thresholds.
We do however, want to publically recognise the exceptional results by some of our pupils:

Students have been successful in securing a place on their preferred A Level courses of study, with the Prendergast Federation Sixth Form provision the destination of choice for most.
All Prendergast Ladywell students have clear and supported progression routes to Post 16 provision in schools, colleges or through apprenticeships.
The Headteacher, Niall Hand said:
“I want to congratulate all of our year 11 leavers and wish them all the best in their future pursuits. The Covid 19 lockdown robbed these students of many of the rites of passage in school that we take for granted, the examinations, the end of year prom, and leaving assembly. I am pleased that our students have the GCSE outcomes which will allow them to pursue their chosen pathway in September.
I want to thank all the staff who have supported these students throughout the time at Prendergast Ladywell School, and who more recently worked so diligently to ensure accurate and fair CAGs were submitted to the exam board. A particular thanks go to the admin team, data manager and exams officer who have had to work even harder and more effectively than usual at this time to cope with confusion, indecision and delay from the DfE, Ofqual, and the Awarding authorities and who made sure that the students received their results on time.”

“Our results this year have been our best ever, yet again, now for the 5th successive year!
I am really pleased that the school Progress 8 number has improved again, and is now above the National measure, recorded at +0.33. For the first time we can say that students here at Prendergast Ladywell School do better than the national average.
It is disappointing, that this really important number will not be recognised in the DFE performance table when they are published. The data the DFE holds and measures for the Progress 8 score does not represent all the students we have taught, and who sat examination with us, our +0.33 calculation is reliable and inclusive of the whole cohort.
Our continually improving outcomes are built on the foundation of English Mathematics and Science, although we have areas of excellence across the school.
At the beginning of the academic year we set targets with the governors of the school to improve the progress of our boys, our high prior attaining students and our disadvantaged students in year 11. We have been successful in ensuring that all these cohorts now make progress in line with the national measure. I am incredibly proud of this, it demonstrates the effectiveness of the teaching and learning here at Prendergast Ladywell School, and the support and the high aspirations we have for all our young people.”
Everyone has worked incredibly hard, and Prendergast Ladywell students are reaping the rewards of their dedication and talent.”
