Claire Styles
Co-opted Governor
Claire's career spans local government and the charity sectors, and work with central government.
Starting out as a children’s librarian, she worked in local government community and development roles for a decade. Claire is a passionate advocate of reading and literacy. She led development of a national youth volunteering programme that promoted youth reading for pleasure across UK libraries, and in schools and youth settings. Claire now runs her own fundraising and business management consultancy, working with clients across charities (especially youth and arts), local government, and education, often on large capital and revenue projects. In Lewisham, she has fundraised successfully for a major youth club redevelopment, mental wellbeing service and other projects, working with the youth service, health and other partners. Claire is a past Fellow of the prestigious Clore Cultural Leadership Programme and also trustee for an arts charity.
Claire passionately believes in the importance of putting young people first, and the critical role of schools in helping all young people to discover and nurture their talent.
Claire lives locally and has three children, two of whom are at Prendergast schools.
