Personal Development
The curriculum provided by school extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational. The school aims to support pupils to develop in many diverse aspects of life. There are clear structures in place to capture pupils’ voice and pupils have a range of opportunities to influence decisions which affect them.
Whilst working with our pupils academically, they are influenced by societal factors in their community. We adhere to the Gatsby benchmark for careers provision and have a carefully planned careers curriculum.
We ensure students have a wide variety of opportunities both in and out of school to help our students prepare for their future working lives. Our PSHE lessons intend for our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society who understand the breadth of relationships and how to stay safe within them.
It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.
Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community and are encouraged to take up the leadership opportunities offered to them.
The school aims to teach pupils how to build their confidence and resilience, and to help pupils understand how to engage with society providing them with many opportunities to do so. We aim to develop their knowledge of themselves in such a way that the careers programme is of immense benefit to them, allowing them to explore a diverse range of futures in an ambitious futures environment.
We deliver personal development through a variety of activities at Prendergast Ladywell School, including tutor time activities.
