Sociology
Our Sociology curriculum focuses on our diverse, and rapidly changing global society, and fosters the development of critical and reflective thinking with a respect for the social diversity in our community. It provides an awareness of the importance of social structures in explaining social issues. Students are encouraged to develop their own sociological awareness through active engagement with the ever-changing contemporary social world.
The Sociology curriculum will encourage students to acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of contemporary social processes and social changes and appreciate the significance of theoretical and conceptual issues in sociological debate.
Students will understand and evaluate sociological methodology and a range of research methods, including examining ethical issues in the research process. They will develop skills that enable them to focus on their personal identity, roles and responsibilities within society and develop a lifelong interest in social issues.
